“GREEN-EUROPE: Towards a More Sustainable and Inclusive Europe: Empowering Young People with Fewer Opportunities in the Green Transition and Active Citizenship”, progetto Erasmus+ dedicato alla sostenibilità, alla transizione verde, all’inclusione e alla cittadinanza attiva.
Lo Youth Exchange si è svolto a Bologna dal 14 al 22 giugno 2026 e ha coinvolto 28 giovani partecipanti, accompagnati da 5 group leader e da un facilitatore, per un totale di 36 persone. Una particolare attenzione è stata dedicata al coinvolgimento di giovani con minori opportunità e alla creazione di un ambiente internazionale, inclusivo e partecipativo.
Le attività e le metodologie
Il programma si è basato interamente su metodologie di educazione non formale, attraverso workshop, role-play, dibattiti, attività creative, momenti di riflessione e attività dedicate allo sviluppo di competenze personali e professionali legate alla sostenibilità.

GREEN-EUROPE: Towards a More Sustainable and Inclusive Europe
In June 2026, I had the opportunity to take part in GREEN-EUROPE: Towards a More Sustainable and Inclusive Europe, an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange held in Bologna, Italy.
The project brought together young people from different European countries to explore some of the most important challenges facing our generation: ecological transition, climate action, sustainability, social inclusion and active European citizenship.
What made the experience particularly engaging was its strong focus on non-formal education. Rather than attending traditional lectures, we learned through interactive workshops, role-plays, debates, group activities and reflective moments around the city.
Throughout the exchange, we explored the relationship between our everyday individual choices and wider environmental policies. We discussed how sustainability challenges can differ between urban and rural areas and compared the experiences and perspectives of young people coming from different European contexts.
One of the most useful parts of the project was the opportunity to develop our green and transversal skills. Using tools connected to Green Youth Employability, we designed and facilitated activities ourselves and worked on our own “Green CVs.”
Taking an active role during workshops and simulations helped us strengthen skills such as communication, critical thinking, teamwork, public speaking and facilitation, while transforming environmental concepts into concrete activities and ideas that can be used in our communities and professional lives.
The international dimension was another fundamental part of the experience. Living and working together in multicultural teams, sharing our traditions and taking part in the Intercultural Nights allowed us to discover different perspectives while also realising how many challenges, hopes and values we share across Europe.
These moments created a real sense of community and showed how intercultural dialogue can be a powerful tool for understanding complex issues such as climate change, sustainability and social inclusion.
GREEN-EUROPE also placed particular emphasis on active citizenship and inclusion. The project was designed to empower young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, helping them see the ecological transition not simply as an obligation, but as an opportunity for participation, personal growth and positive change.
At the end of the experience, what remains is not only a greater awareness of environmental issues, but also a set of practical skills, international connections and new ideas to bring back to our local communities.
Addressing climate change and sustainability is vital for our generation, and youth work can play an important role in giving young people the tools and confidence to become active contributors to change.
The knowledge, facilitation skills and connections developed in Bologna will therefore continue to be valuable resources for future community initiatives, professional experiences and more sustainable everyday choices.
